Danzón No. 22, composed by Mexican composer Arturo Márquez, expresses and reflects on the dance style named Danzón, which originated from Cuba but is a very important part of the folklore of the Mexican state of Veracruz. The music was inspired by a visit to a ballroom in Veracruz.
Alondra de la Parra, a 36-year-old female Mexican conductor, did a bold and passionate but yet elegant interpretation of the piece. Enjoy!
